Atomic Habits

Published: 2018
Author: James Clear
Genres: Personal Transformation Self Help, self-help, how-to, self improvement

At the start of this review, I want to ask all the readers to follow the simple rules from this book and apply them to your life for only a hundred days and see the positive effects on yourself and everything related to your habits. This book explains how our habits can change our life from good to worse and from worse to best. We can change our life around by adjusting just a few small habits.

The writer had an accident and it forced him to change his habits to fix his life and in this book, he is sharing his strategies with us. Don’t worry these are not just a few strategies from his time during the recovery; it is full of knowledge for the ones who really want to change their lives.

A few things that you can understand are the effect of being constant. Just keep yourself ready for the best results that come with staying on track. I can use one simple example and that is the feeling and confidence you gain after a few weeks of staying on a diet and training routine. People start asking you and telling you how good, fit, young and attractive you look and then you start getting even more focused on what you were doing and that is actually a reward that you never even thought about when you started doing it. You'll never get tempted to eat fatty foods or any other stuff that may change how you look and feel and that is the power of simple habits and that is what this book is going to teach you.

From the back cover:
“Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results.
No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving--every day. James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.

If you're having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn't you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don't want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you'll get a proven system that can take you to new heights.

Clear is known for his ability to distill complex topics into simple behaviors that can be easily applied to daily life and work. Here, he draws on the most proven ideas from biology, psychology, and neuroscience to create an easy-to-understand guide for making good habits inevitable and bad habits impossible. Along the way, readers will be inspired and entertained with true stories from Olympic gold medalists, award-winning artists, business leaders, life-saving physicians, and star comedians who have used the science of small habits to master their craft and vault to the top of their field.

Learn how to:
· make time for new habits (even when life gets crazy);
· overcome a lack of motivation and willpower;
· design your environment to make success easier;
· get back on track when you fall off course;
...and much more.

Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits--whether you are a team looking to win a championship, an organization hoping to redefine an industry, or simply an individual who wishes to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, or achieve any other goal.”

I read a lot of books about human behavior and this book is one of the very few books that I think can actually help a person change if he/she is willing to do it. A great book on self-improvement and I rate it in the top five books that I read on this subject.

Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door

Published: 2020
Series: Book 1 of 2: Riley Thorn
Author: Lucy Score

Genres: Romantic Comedy, Contemporary Romance, romantic comedy suspense, suspense

I am not a big fan of romance but when comedy is involved then I read this genre. I was not disappointed by this novel because it has no dull moment in it. A loving family that is not so normal but still a loving family and for romance we have a hot single guy. A dead guy and we have romantic comedy suspense.

The writer is very good at this kind of stuff and I recommend all her books. As I mentioned earlier that I am not a big fan of romance but Miss. Lucy Score’s novels are an exception for me. I hope she writes more of these books for all of us to read and enjoy. One great reason is the characters in this book that you will want to read about again in other situations.

I seldom laugh for real but when I do, it is only at something that is actually very funny or dark that many people won’t even understand; this book was one of the very few books that made me laugh out loud. I was on the airplane when I read most of this book and everyone looked at me as if I was gone crazy but the lady sitting next to me started laughing also at one point and then I realize that she started reading the same pages that I was reading. It was a hysterical situation when she told me that she actually peed in her pants while laughing at one page. I hope you laugh like that too while reading this book, but be careful where you read it or you’ll get in trouble.

I really recommend this book to all of my readers so all of you can enjoy and have fun.

From the back cover:
“A nice, normal life. Is that too much to ask? For Riley Thorn it is.
Divorced. Broke. Living with a pack of elderly roommates. And those hallucinations she’s diligently ignoring? Her tarot card-dealing mom is convinced they’re clairvoyant visions.

Just when things can’t get worse, a so-hot-it-should-be-illegal private investigator shows up on her doorstep looking for a neighbor…who turns up murdered.

Nick Santiago doesn’t play well with others. Unless the “others” are of the female persuasion. Wink. He’s a rebel, a black sheep, a man who prefers a buffet of options to being stuck with the same entrée every night, if you catch his drift.

When the pretty, possibly psychic Riley lands at the top of the list of suspects, Nick volunteers to find out whodunit. Only because he likes solving mysteries not because he wants to flex his heroic muscles for the damsel in distress.

All they have to do is figure out who pulled the trigger, keep the by-the-book detective with a grudge at bay, and deal with a stranger claiming he was sent to help Riley hone her psychic gifts. All before the killer discovers she’s a loose end that requires snipping.”

The Millionaire Next Door

Published: 2010
Series: Book 2 of 3: Millionaire Set

Genres: Wealth Management, Business Professional's Biographies, Sociology of Class, self-help, how to

The full name of the book is “The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy,” and is number one bestseller in the Wealth Management genre on the day of writing this review (16, July 2021)

The book basically focuses on interesting finds and surprisingly simple ways and tricks from the authors' years of research on millionaires in America and is going to help you do the same or at least help you learn the ways of these men and women so you too can become a millionaire also if you follow in the footsteps of these people. In simple words, one thing to remember is to do what rich people do if you want to be rich.

The writers did a lot of research and interviewed real “millionaires” and then created this filtered version for all of us to read and understand the secret behind becoming a millionaire and really anyone can become and achieve this goal. And it is not what everyone thinks it is or how a rich person lives, you don’t have to sell drugs or be a boss of a gang. Only stay simple, humble, and forget about what others think about you. Being rich and financially secure is all about your own self and security so you can always have backup money and enough for early retirement.

From the back cover:
“Why aren't I as wealthy as I should be?" Many people ask this question of themselves all the time. Often they are hard-working, well-educated middle- to high-income people. Why, then, are so few affluent. For nearly two decades the answer has been found in the bestselling The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy, reissued with a new foreword for the twenty-first century. According to the authors, most people have it all wrong about how you become wealthy in America. Wealth in America is more often the result of hard work, diligent savings, and living below your means than it is about inheritance, advanced degrees, and even intelligence. The Millionaire Next Door identifies seven common traits that show up again and again among those who have accumulated wealth. You will learn, for example, that millionaires bargain shop for used cars, pay a tiny fraction of their wealth in income tax, raise children who are often unaware of their family's wealth until they are adults, and, above all, reject the big-spending lifestyles most of us associate with rich people. In fact, you will learn that the flashy millionaires glamorized in the media represent only a tiny minority of America's rich. Most of the truly wealthy in this country don't live in Beverly Hills or on Park Avenue-they live next door.”
