Themes such as relationships, friendships, and growing up are explored in this novel through conversations between characters about their personal lives. This book, on the other hand, is extremely readable and immediately draws you in. While I was drawn to these flawed characters, I also found myself judging them and didn't always understand why they did what they did.
I think the plot was mediocre, but who cares if you are a fan of the author. I had a difficult time reading the book, but I did my best and plan to read more books by the author because I am a book reviewer who enjoys reading a wide variety of books. Still, I don't think these books are for everyone unless you're a fan or want to try new authors and genres.
As in her first two books, the focus is on the women, and the narrative is centered on the push and pull of their relationships. In some ways, the relationships in this book resemble those in her previous works, but they are not exact replicas. Meanwhile, the book is peppered with brief discussions of political philosophy, art, and other strong topics.
The main characters communicate through letters, which is a very clever way to make a story work. I thought the author's idea was brilliant, and it makes me want to read more of her books to see how she handles the story if she doesn't use this clever trick.
Another clever aspect of this author's writing style that I discovered is the way she uses the readers' personal lives and experiences to entice them to read more of these stories. Basically, she grabs the readers' heartstrings and pulls them into her world of one-sided or forced relationships that we read to see if they will or will not work out.
Anyway, all of this taught me that she is not a bad writer and that she is actually quite clever and matures with each new book she releases, which is a very good sign, not only for her fans but also for all other readers. I'm looking forward to her next book just to see how far she's progressed and what new clever technique she employs to attract new fans.

“AN INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTELLER
Beautiful World, Where Are You is a new novel by Sally Rooney, the bestselling author of Normal People and Conversations with Friends.
Alice, a novelist, meets Felix, who works in a warehouse, and asks him if he’d like to travel to Rome with her. In Dublin, her best friend, Eileen, is getting over a break-up, and slips back into flirting with Simon, a man she has known since childhood.
Alice, Felix, Eileen, and Simon are still young—but life is catching up with them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart. They have sex, they worry about sex, they worry about their friendships and the world they live in. Are they standing in the last lighted room before the darkness, bearing witness to something? Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?”
