Cassandra Peterson (born September 17, 1951) is an actress, writer, and singer from the United States. She is best known for her portrayal of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, a horror hostess. In her stage persona as Elvira, Peterson rose to fame on Los Angeles television station KHJ-TV, where she hosted Elvira's Movie Macabre, a weekly B movie presentation.
