Good Girls Lie

Published: 30, December 2019
Author: J.T. Ellison

Genres: Domestic Thrillers, Psychological Thrillers, Crime Thrillers, Murder Thrillers

I never read books from this genre but was introduced by a friend who wanted me to start reviews on all kinds of books and not just my favorite genre science fiction. I was not disappointed with this book either, I can sense the writer is actually very clever and proves it by what she did with this book and the style it is written in.

While reading this book I noticed an issue, sometimes you need to go back and check who is talking but if you are actually reading and like the author then it won’t be a problem. Just read it like you are watching a fast-paced movie and if you blink, you may miss something. I think it was an issue for the people who only read a book just to show off or tell others that they belong to a group, same like lots of people watched “A Game of Thrones” just to belong and be a part of conversations. I have seen and met a lot of these people. It was like a status symbol like owning a useless mobile with a big number and a huge price tag on it.

I had no problem while reading the book and I found it an actual page-turner and you have no clue about who did what until the last pages and that was really enjoyable. I finished this book in a day not just because I was going to write a review. I actually loved the author and am going to read all of her books soon.

As with a story like this, you find twists and turns and it was not bad. I kind of liked the main girl because of her ways of life and I think after reading you are going to feel the same because her character is what this world is becoming but pretends to be something else. Comment and message me about this topic and tell me what you thought of this kind of person.

Synopsis:
“J.T. Ellison’s pulse-pounding new psychological thriller examines the tenuous bonds of friendship, the power of lies and the desperate lengths people will go to in order to protect their secrets.

Good girls don’t lie…

Perched atop a hill in the tiny town of Marchburg, Virginia, The Goode School is a prestigious prep school known as a Silent Ivy. The boarding school of choice for daughters of the rich and influential, it accepts only the best and the brightest. Its elite status, long-held traditions and honor code are ideal for preparing exceptional young women for brilliant futures at Ivy League universities and beyond.

But a stranger has come to Goode, and this ivy has turned poisonous.
In a world where appearances are everything, as long as students pretend to follow the rules, no one questions the cruelties of the secret societies or the dubious behavior of the privileged young women who expect to get away with murder.

When a popular student is found dead, the truth cannot be ignored. Rumors suggest she was struggling with a secret that drove her to suicide.

But look closely…because there are truths and there are lies, and then there is everything that really happened.

Don’t miss Her Dark Lies , the next page-turning thriller from New York Times bestselling author J.T. Ellison!”

The Gods Themselves

One more gem from the greatest science fiction author of the century. This book is a masterpiece. Even if you are not a fan of science fiction, this book is still for you. I think this story is one of the most imaginative stories ever and it is not at all complex or hard to understand. Just read it and treat yourself.

A clever idea and concept behind the story and how it was executed. But remember it is not a fast-paced spaceship chasing, blaster shooting adventure. It is about the lifeline of a universe at stake story involving physics, but don’t worry all of it is explained in a very simple way.

You are going to get emotionally attached by the end of this book but strangely this book can be three different books because it consists of three chapters and all of these chapters can be read as three separate stories. AND no robots in this book. Instead, a device (with variants) is one of the most important items in the three universes in this book.

One of the best stories by Isaac Asimov and it shows. A lot can be said about this book because I found no flaw in it except it is kind of slow for the people who want just action. The world-building, the characters, the creatures, and the parallel universes, all are done with detail and you can feel the work put into this story by the author.

An excellent read for everyone.

Synopsis:
“In the twenty-second century Earth obtains limitless, free energy from a source science little understands: an exchange between Earth and a parallel universe, using a process devised by the aliens. But even free energy has a price. The transference process itself will eventually lead to the destruction of the Earth's Sun—and of Earth itself.

Only a few know the terrifying truth—an outcast Earth scientist, a rebellious alien inhabitant of a dying planet, a lunar-born human intuitionist who senses the imminent annihilation of the Sun. They know the truth—but who will listen? They have foreseen the cost of abundant energy—but who will believe? These few beings, human and alien, hold the key to Earth's survival.”

The Robots of Dawn

Review

Once again a novel with science fiction and mystery combined at the background of a murder and the search for the murderer. This book concluded the trilogy of The Robots series.

The mystery is good and keeps you guessing…the ending was nice and I liked it. Very well written. You can actually read it as a solo but I don’t recommend it, because you need to know some background of the characters and cultures.

This book is twice as long as the first two books in this series and you get to see the full use of the three laws of robotics by the author. You are going to read all of this between the difference of cultures that are as strange as they are far from the earth and even the earth society is changed its ways of living. But one thing is always great in Isaac Asimov’s novels and that is his vision of the future.

Again a great connection to Asimov’s universe that he created by somehow combining most of his stories with some kind of link between them.

Hundred percent recommended but I must remind the reader that this one is not on the level or class of the previous book in the series called The Naked Sun.

Synopsis:
“A millennium into the future two advances have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the Galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov's Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective and a humanoid robot who must learn to work together.

Detective Elijah Baiey is called to the Spacer world Aurora to solve a bizarre case of roboticide. The prime suspect is a gifted roboticist who had the means, the motive, and the opportunity to commit the crime. There's only one catch: Baley and his positronic partner, R. Daneel Olivaw, must prove the man innocent. For in a case of political intrigue and love between woman and robot gone tragically wrong, there's more at stake than simple justice. This time Baley's career, his life, and Earth's right to pioneer the Galaxy lie in the delicate balance.”
