Poor Unfortunate Soul

A Tale of the Sea Witch

Book 3 of 8: Villains
Published: 1, January 2016
Genres: Teen & Young Adult Media Tie-In, Teen & Young Adult Fairy Tale & Folklore Adaptations, Children's Folk Tales & Myths, Teen & Young Adult Myths & Legends, Disney

Warning: Do not read this book unless you already read at least the second book of the series, otherwise lots of stuff is not going to make sense and you’ll blame me for recommending this book.

This paragraph is going to be the same for this book series so If you already read it previously then just skip to the next paragraph - This book series is about Walt Disney’s villains and about the life they had and what caused them to be like what you saw them on the screen. I always wanted to know about the other side of the story when I saw a villain do something evil. And I think now is the time when we can see and read about that because I see movies and read books about antiheroes and even villain’s backgrounds. Our society is at last evolving and adopting the open-minded approach and that is why we are trying to learn the opposite side’s story also.

As you can see from the cover, this book is about Ursula but you are going to find more about the witches that were in the second book and a few more characters like the girl who was supposed to marry the prince before he transformed into the beast. The book has really bad reviews but the problem is that these people didn’t read the first two books and that is why they feel like that. Don’t worry about the bad reviews and don’t expect too much either. It is a simple and fast read and just think of it as an introductory and character development phase book for the characters you are reading about; many are new or background characters that we never even noticed in main stories and movies. Once more I am warning the readers to read the first two books before reading this one.

This book is going to open up as the third part of a series and you are going to realize that this series is not just about the villains, it is about the witches from the second book “The Beast Within.”

It is a simple but wonderful read and you can finish it in a few hours. Nothing much to say because anything else I say is going to become a spoiler.

Synopsis:
“The tale of the sea king's daughter Ariel is a beloved one of losing―and then finding―one's own voice.

The story has been told many times and in many ways. But always the mergirl wants more than her world can offer, and her father demands that she live within the confines of his domain. Her rebelliousness costs the little mermaid her voice and nearly her soul. But the power of good prevails, and Ariel emerges proud and unchanged.

And yet this is only half the story. So what of Ariel's nemesis, Ursula, the sea witch? What led to her becoming so twisted, scorned, and filled with hatred? Many tales have tried to explain her motives. Here is one account of what might have shaped the sea witch into a detestable and poor unfortunate soul.”

Even I am giving low points; it is a must-read to be able to understand the story of the main series. But as I mentioned before, read it in sequence.

I suggest buying the hardcover version if you are a true fan or want to give it as a gift to someone who is a fan.

The Beast Within

A Tale of Beauty's Prince

Book 2 of 8: Villains
Published: 22, July 2014
Genres: Teen & Young Adult Media Tie-In, Teen & Young Adult Fairy Tale & Folklore Adaptations, Children's Folk Tales & Myths, Teen & Young Adult Myths & Legends, Children's Royalty Books

The beast was and is one of my favorite characters in fairy tales and makes me wonder, why the girl had to suffer by marrying the prince instead of the beast because she was in love with the beast and not the prince. The prince was indeed the beast but she saw him as the beast and loved him as the beast. I always felt sad for her because of this story ending but that is my opinion and I am not asking for a debate but still, everyone is welcome to comment regarding this issue and tell me what you think.

This book deals with beasts transformation and his previous love interest who was a lot different than Bell and basically a few back story points that tie this book to the animated movie and how no one knew or remembered who the beast was before he was transformed. And some of these things are not going to be liked by many fans. I think the beast is not a villain but for some part and from Bell and her father’s point of view he was in some part of the time they met him. I don’t care if he is in this book series called Villains because at least I got to read a bit more about him.

Almost everyone knows what happened and why the prince was turned into the beast but after reading this you’ll know the whole story and realize why he was punished like that. Really a good read that you want to read for a long time but surely going to finish in a few hours and then going to want more of it.

This paragraph is the same as it was for book 1 - I think it is better to buy these books for your collection because the book covers and design are amazing. Young kids are going to love the stories and adults can like these also. The writing style is kind of simple and juvenile but don’t forget, it is written for young to adults who are fans of this kind of stuff. I actually love the books that are easy to read, because you can read more and fast and still understand and enjoy the story.

This book can be used as an addition to your beauty and the Beast collection and as a part of this Villain series. The choice is yours.

Even with a few minor flaws, I am going to give full points because it is about The Beast.

Synopsis:
“A cursed prince sits alone in a secluded castle.

Few have seen him, but those who claim they have say his hair is wild and nails are sharp--like a beast's! But how did this prince, once jovial and beloved by the people, come to be a reclusive and bitter monster? And is it possible that he can ever find true love and break the curse that has been placed upon him?”

I suggest buying the hardcover version if you are a true fan or want to give it as a gift to someone who is a fan.

Fairest of All

A Tale of the Wicked Queen

Published: 1, August 2017
Book 1 of 8: Villains
Genres: Teen & Young Adult Media Tie-In, Teen & Young Adult Fairy Tale & Folklore Adaptations, Children's Folk Tales & Myths, Teen & Young Adult Myths & Legends

This book series is about Walt Disney’s villains and about the life they had and what caused them to be like what you saw them on the screen.

I loved the idea but got kind of disappointed by the way the story was stretched and basically, the book is one day read if you want. The font is large and it is kind of good for young kids and adults who are still fans of those classic stories and cartoon movies.

I think it is better to buy these books for your collection because the book covers and design are amazing. Young kids are going to love the stories and adults can like these also. The writing style is kind of simple and juvenile but don’t forget, it is written for young to adults who are fans of this kind of stuff. I actually love the books that are easy to read, because you can read more and fast and still understand and enjoy the story.

The reason this queen became evil was a good idea and I liked it. I mean that’s how you must tell a story about how someone changed from a good-hearted person to an evil person.

Synopsis:
“For anyone who’s seen Walt Disney’s Snow White, you’ll know that the Wicked Queen is one evil woman! After all, it’s not everyone who wants to cut out their teenage step-daughter’s heart and have it delivered back in a locked keepsake box. (And even if this sort of thing is a common urge, we don’t know many people who have acted upon it.)

Now, for the first time, we’ll examine the life of the Wicked Queen and find out just what it is that makes her so nasty. Here’s a hint: the creepy-looking man in the magic mirror is not just some random spooky visage―and he just might have something to do with the Queen’s wicked ways!”

The only reason I am not giving full points is the stretching that this story got to add more pages to the actual short story. Otherwise, it is a wonderful and amazing book for young readers.

I suggest buying the hardcover version if you are a true fan or want to give it as a gift to someone who is a fan.
