Biography:
Steven Robert Alten is an American science-fiction novelist who was born on August 21, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is most known for his Meg series of books, which revolve on the mythical survival of the megalodon, a prehistoric shark.
Alten graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in sports medicine from the University of Delaware, and a doctorate in sports management from Temple University. Alten is the founder and director of Adopt-An-Author, a free-reading initiative for secondary schools that promotes the works of six writers, including his own.
