Biography

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Kane Chronicles, and the Heroes of Olympus are all written by Rick Riordan, who is the #1 New York Times bestselling author. He's also the creator of the adult mystery series Tres Navarre, which has won several awards.

Rick taught English and history for fifteen years at public and private middle schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and Texas. Saint Mary's Hall bestowed the school's first Master Teacher Award on him in 2002.

Riordan began writing adult mystery books while still teaching full-time. His Tres Navarre series went on to win the Edgar, Anthony, and Shamus honors, the top three national mystery prizes. When Riordan began writing The Lightning Thief as a bedtime tale for his older kid, he moved into children's fiction.

In the United States, his Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles, and Heroes of Olympus books have sold over 35 million copies, and rights have been sold to over 35 nations. Rick is also the author of another #1 New York Times book, The 39 Clues: The Maze of Bones.

Rick Riordan is now a full-time writer. With his wife and two boys, he lives in Boston.
