Biography
Michael Joseph Connelly (born July 21, 1956) is an American novelist best known for his detective novels and other crime fiction featuring LAPD Detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch and criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller.
Connelly is the best-selling author of 31 novels and one nonfiction work, with over 74 million volumes sold worldwide and translated into 40 languages.
In 1992, his debut novel, The Black Echo, earned the Edgar Award for Best First Novel from the Mystery Writers of America.
Clint Eastwood directed and acted in the film adaptation of Connelly's 1997 novel, Blood Work, in 2002.
Matthew McConaughey featured as Mickey Haller in the film version of Connelly's novel The Lincoln Lawyer, which was released in March 2011. From 2003 to 2004, Connelly served as President of the Mystery Writers of America.
