Biography
Abraham (Bram) Stoker was an Irish writer best known for his Gothic classic Dracula, which has influenced horror writers and fans for more than a century. Stoker' s writing was greatly influenced by his father' s interest in theatre and his mother' s gruesome stories about her childhood during the 1832 cholera epidemic. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, in science, mathematics, oratory, history, and composition.
Despite being a published author of the novels Dracula, The Lady of the Shroud, and The Lair of the White Worm, as well as being a member of The London Daily Telegraph's literary staff, Stoker made a living as actor Henry Irving's personal assistant and the business manager of London's Lyceum Theatre. Stoker passed away in 1912, leaving behind one of the most memorable horror characters of all time.
